CPC-Dallas is one of 10 such entities across Texas whose mission is to assist individuals who have been "touched" by the criminal justice system to begin the reintegration process.
CPC brings together community, civic and faith-based organizations to form a support network to assist the reentry process of former offenders addressing issues that could lead to re-offending. CPC member organizations actively provide mentoring, counseling and instruction in life-skills development, work preparedness and job search assistance.
Occurring on Friday, August 17, 2012, the Felony and/or Misdemeanor-Friendly Community Career Fair is a collaborative effort to connect on a case-by-case basis, "background friendly” employers within our community with a pool of well-prepared and qualified jobseekers. Successful Felony and/or Misdemeanor-Friendly Community Career Fairs were held in Tarrant County in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Through them, more than 900 qualified jobseekers were put in contact with over 60 employers, whose hiring policies consider felony and/or misdemeanor-background applicants on a "case-by-case" basis. The success and recognition of the Tarrant County events (2009 SHRM Pinnacle Award Recipient) stands as evidence of what can be accomplished when the community rallies around a common goal.
We hope that this event adds "value" to your workforce endeavours.
The Planning Team.
